Seibundo Shinkosha (Tokyo) has released next year’s calendar full of fluffy and adorable Akita dogs.
The photographs featured in the calendar are of the dogs of writer and photographer Yoko Sakamaki, who lives in the Normandy region of France. She captured the innocent expressions of puppies and adult dogs relaxing in nature.
Ms. Sakasmaki has been raising Akita dogs since 2015 and breeds them herself. Many of the dogs featured in the calendar were born at her home. This year there was a rush of births, and 12 dogs were living together at one point, making for a lively atmosphere.
Ms. Sakamaki said, “Dogs have a shorter life span than humans. Living with them makes you feel their life like the changing seasons. I want people to enjoy watching these dogs grow up.”
The calendar is about 30 centimeters squared and costs 1,760 yen, and it is available at bookstores throughout Akita prefecture and online at Amazon.com.)
