Following the last issue that called for photo submissions (December 2023), here are some cute pictures from the dog owners.

Komatsu-hime (twelve-year-old female)

“It’s a photo taken at the Todaiji Temple Daibutsu Pond near our place. She has been suffering from a tumor on her right front leg since she was around ten years old and has been walking around in a cart for the past six months. She is a cute little Princess Komatsu-chan healing even in her old age.” – Yoko Nishida of Nara City

Reo (six-year-old white-haired male), Haruto (four-year-old brindle male), Raiya (three-year-old red-haired female)

“We all love the Hokuo-no-mori Park in Kitaakita City. When I come with our dogs here, their smiles are in full bloom. Seeing them enjoying nature makes me feel happy.” – Kaoru Todo of Akita City

Mei (one-year-old female)

“Our second dog is a lonely and playful young lady who needs a lot of attention. She holds down a large icicle and gnaws it with her big mouth! She’s doing her best.” – Yukari Takahashi of Daisen City

Haku (one-year-old male)

“We went to Osaki Hachimangu Shrine in Sendai City last October to visit and walk around in a kimono for the first time. Doesn’t Haku look good in it? He got lots of cuddles from visitors.” – Keisuke Sato of Tomiya City, Miyagi Prefecture

J-HOPE (two-year-old female)

“While walking around Akita City Hall, we came across a bronze statue of a child. It looked like J and the child statue were having a friendly meeting.” – Kiyomi Fuse of Akita City

Okoge (one-year-old male)

“This is one of the photos when he was a little tired from a long walk in the evening and waiting for a walking companion. We waited about ten minutes, but it was going to rain, so we didn’t meet anyone… I had to drag him home.” – Shigehito Kimura of Mitane Town

Hanna (one-year-old female)

“We went to Awaji Hanasajiki park on Awaji Island for our first outing. She was a little nervous, but when we got there, she was so excited and seemed to enjoy being surrounded by beautiful flowers. I will go on more outings in the future.” – Shukumizu Fukuda of Miki City, Hyogo Prefecture

Tiana (four-year-old female)

“My daughter bought a removable collar and put it on her. Tiana’s eyes clearly show that she feels like she is being forced to do this.” – Mayumi Tagami of Inashiki City, Ibaraki Prefecture

Haru (left, four-year-old female) and Raidenmaru (seven-month-old male)

Raidenmaru was not going to tell Haru a secret, he was going to bite her! Raidenmaru is in a very naughty period now, always appealing for Haru’s attention during walks.” – Mina Sato of Sayama City, Saitama Prefecture

Goro (left, two-year-old male)

Michiko Tatefuji of Shiwa Town, Iwate Prefecture

Thank you for your submissions, and we hope you will continue to capture your favorite scenes in 2024.

Where Dogs Connect Akita and the World

Akita Inu (dogs), with their fluffy coat, round eyes, and an adorable tail that curls up, are now famous worldwide. Akita dogs have a strong body and are best known for their loyal personality. The number of Akita dogs raised overseas continues to increase. In Akita Prefecture, the Akita dog's birthplace, there is an active movement to utilize them for tourism promotion. Akita Sakigake Shimpo, entitled "Akitainu News," will circulate various domestic and international information about Akita dogs. The goal is to connect the world and Akita through Akita dogs.
