A stuffed toy keychain limited to Akita Prefecture featuring “Chiikawa,” a popular manga and anime character dressed as an Akita dog, has been attracting attention.
Chiikawa is the main character of the manga “Chiikawa: Something Small and Cute,” which has been serialized on Twitter by the illustrator Ms. Nagano since January 2020. The manga was published in book form in 2021, and a TV animation started to broadcast in 2022.
The local limited-edition goods have been available since 2021. Unique items include those dressed as Date Masamune and Sakamoto Ryoma. The stuffed toy Akita dog key chain was released late last year and has become popular among men and women of all ages.
According to the company API in Shizuoka City that produced the key chain, the cuteness of Akita dogs has something in common with Chiikawa‘s.
The Chiikawa key chain costs 1,320 yen, including tax, and is sold at Akita Airport, Akita Furusato Village, and the Ogachi Roadside Station in Oga, Akita.
