CNA Akita Cable Television has launched a confectionery brand, “HACHEESE,” featuring an Akita dog named “Hachiko.” Born in Odate City, Akita, Hachiko was renowned for his faithfulness to his master. The company produced two products, Cheese Sables (Shibuya Hachiko Cheese Sable) and Mango Pudding (Shibuya Hachiko Mango Pudding) and will be supported by the crowdfunding website “Makuake.”
The HACHEESE’s logo has a left-facing image of Hachiko with the words “FROM AKITA JAPAN” on it. CNA aims to promote the preservation of Akita dogs by appealing to the connection between Akita prefecture and Hachiko, who is widely known from the statue in front of Shibuya Station in Tokyo. A portion of the two products’ sales will help fund preservation activities conducted by the association “ONE FOR AKITA.”
Both the cheese sables and mango pudding use rice flour made from rice grown in Oga City, Akita. An executive committee organized by CNA, “ONE FOR AKITA,” and the planning company “cycle & design” in Shibuya, have implemented this crowdfunding. Goods range from 6,600 JPY to 13,200 JPY (donation included in price) and are now available on the crowdfunding website “Makuake” until August 20th, 2020.
The cheese sables and mango pudding will be sold at stores in Tokyo after the crowdfunding period ends. For more inquiries, please call CNA at 018-865-5302.
