A 2021 Calendar with pictures of Akita dog puppies in France was released by the Japanese publisher, Shoeisha. Ms. Sakamaki Yoko, a journalist, took the pictures of her puppies for the calendar, named “Mukumuku-mofumofu Akita Inu (Fluffy and Shaggy Akita Dog).”
Ms. Sakamaki lives in the Normandy region of northern France with her partner, a fruit farmer. The Akita puppies were born in their house. Each month of the calendar shows their lively life blessed with spacious meadows and a beautiful garden. The photos of siblings playing around or wanting their mother’s attention are adorable and lovely.
The calendar also has a page that introduces the current situation of Akita dogs in France. It explains the background of the recent increase in their popularity and the original rules of Akita dog’s pedigree certificate.
The calendar size is 20 cm long and 20 cm wide. The price is 1,100 yen, including tax. It is available at bookstores nationwide, online shopping sites, and at the sightseeing facility “Akita Inu-no-Sato” in Odate City, Akita Prefecture. A photo exhibition of Ms. Sakamaki is being held at the facility until December 30, 2020.
