The “Fluffy Offline Meetup in Lake Tazawa” for Akita dog lovers took place at the parking lot of Tazawako Kyoei Palace, a restaurant and souvenir shop on the shores of Lake Tazawa in Semboku, Akita Prefecture, on July 2nd. Participants deepened their friendship through dog introductions and races.
The event was organized by “Enishi,” a Kakunodate-based private lodging that allows people to stay with their Akita dogs. The event included 20 Akita dogs aged three months to 7 years old and their owners.
In the workshop on “Beautiful Standing Posture,” a member of the Akita Dog Preservation Society served as the instructor, explaining how to hold the leash and the handler’s standing position. In an exhibition-style introduction of the beloved dogs, participants acted as judges for each other. They complimented each other on the dogs’ “beautiful coat color” and “friendly and adorable” character.
At the end of the day, they walked along the shores of Lake Tazawa and took souvenir photos. The sight of all the Akita dogs together was breathtaking and attracted a lot of attention from tourists.
Mr. Keisuke Sato and his wife, Mayumi, from Tomiya City, Miyagi Prefecture, participated with their white-furred dog, Haku (one-year-old male). They were satisfied with the event, saying, “It was good to discuss problems with other dog owners, such as the fact that Haku has not been eating.”
